The original Tourist reception Centre in the heart of Srinagar city became an unfortunate victim of an ongoing strife and in its place the local government mandated a new facility. Our proposal maintains the original plinth and suggests a new, contemporary structure inspired by the unique geography of the place and responds to extreme climatic conditions in winter. With abundant use of local craft and building materials and a forward looking design sensibility, we hope this building to become an iconic prototype for future reconstruction in the valley.
